New York City is an object of awe, desire, and disparagement, an image both alluring and, often, frightening. It is also home to eight million people of every race, color, and creed. It it a dazzling jewel, a hypnotic and intoxicating place...and deadly. Within its glistening exterior live gangs, drug dealers, rapists, murderers...people who hate because they can, hurt because they must. The weak are helpless, the destitute are homeless, and many resort to desperate measures just to see another day.

But also within this city lives a new breed of hero...and their sworn enemies.

Almost twenty years ago, a company named TGRI* were responsible for a chemical spill in the city, one of their canisters of mutagen falling into the sewers and, unbeknownst to them, giving birth to a new life for four baby turtles and a rat. Over that time, these mutants have grown, adapted, learned and trained to defend themselves from the perils of the outside world, and to protect the citizens of the city from as many threats as they possibly could, simply because it was the right thing to do and their Sensei taught them to respect all life.

Two years ago, the very same company that was supposed to have closed down decades ago had another accident, their newest version of mutagen seeping into the drinking water of the city and it wasn't until some citizens had adverse affects to exposure that the waterways were flooded and cleaned, sanitised and the threat forgotten.
Who knew that many others were affected, were being subtly changed by their exposure to the substance, were frightened and in hiding, but it wasn't long before it became known that the mutagen had touched a great many.

Instantly, the city was torn. The mutants themselves were divided between those who fought for their rights as citizens, and those who preferred to hide and live apart from the humans, and the humans were separated into those who wanted to help the mutants...and those who wanted to destroy them.

In the present day, many groups have arisen, both publicly known charities and underground militia. Where do you stand in this new world? Lover or fighter, frightened or brave? Mutant or human?

The streets of New York City have become more dangerous than in years past, with the Foot Clan, the Purple Dragons, HATE** and other villainous organizations and individuals vying for control of the city's underground criminal enterprises, while the government seem helpless to rein in this new terror. The police find themselves hard-pressed to keep them under control, so the turtles take it upon themselves to risk exposure in order to protect the city they love...

If you're a fan of Movie 1, and/or a fan of the dark, original comic series, and you enjoy writing in a realistic, in-depth, intricately played out game, filled with believable characters and thoughtful posts, then this may well be what you're looking for.

In this universe there are no other full mutants, making the TMNT unique and incredible as they should be, though there are countless lesser mutants with varying degrees of mutation. In this story, Saki is a man filled with hate and vengeance and there are groups set on destroying the mutants for fear of being infected as well. As the pages turn in this world, you will find a mix of characters, going about their day in modern New York city, either in fear of or fascinated by the amazing beings beneath their streets.

Not everyone can be an expert martial artist, not everyone will be friendly towards a mutant, not everyone is good. Please remember that if you choose to create a character in our world.

But most of all, believe that anything can happen in TMNT RPG.
